Your Role as a Heavy Duty Mechanic
As a Heavy Duty Mechanic, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of heavy equipment and assist with crushing and conveying equipment across our Belleoram quarry operations. This is a rotational trades role based at our Belleoram, NL site, working 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off on 12-hour shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, maintain, and repair heavy equipment such as loaders, haul trucks, excavators, and support equipment.
- Assist with maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on crushing equipment, screens, conveyors, and associated systems.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues across mobile and fixed plant equipment.
- Complete preventative maintenance and respond to breakdowns to minimize downtime and support production targets.
- Assist in the setup, teardown, and relocation of crushing equipment as required.
- Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and drawings to support repairs and maintenance.
- Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and maintenance documentation.
- Collaborate with operations teams to ensure equipment reliability and safe, efficient production.
- Participate in pre-shift meetings, toolbox talks, and hazard assessments to maintain a strong safety culture.
- Ensure adherence to environmental, safety, and quality standards across all site activities.
What You’ll Bring
- Journeyperson Heavy Duty Equipment Technician certification (or equivalent experience).
- Experience working on crushing spreads and aggregate processing equipment is considered a strong asset.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in hydraulics, electrical systems, and diagnostics.
- Experience working on a variety of heavy equipment (loaders, haul trucks, excavators, etc.).
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in a remote, fast-paced operational environment.
- Commitment to safety as the top priority — making safety part of every task.
- Ability to obtain a clean miner’s medical.
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
- Willingness to work a remote, rotational schedule (2 weeks on / 2 weeks off, 12-hour shifts) in Belleoram, NL.
- Physical ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform manual tasks as required.
